Poems

While doing my reading part in Language Arts in homeschool I found lots of cool poems that I want to share with you!

1. "There was an Old man of Thermopyloe"
By Edward Lear

There was an old man of Thermopyloe,
Who never did anything properly;
But they said " If you choose,
 To boil eggs in your shoes,
You shall never remain in Thermopyloe."

2. Safe Piracy (Unknown)
I am a pirate,wonderous bold.
I am the bloke who's filched more gold
than anyone,
purloined more plunder
than the rest.
I'm simply best.

I hold my spyglass to my eye,
Ahoy! A rival ship I spy,
not far alee!
But in my easy
chair I'm dreaming,
so easily thwart their wicked scheming.

3. The Pirates of Penzance  by W.S. Gilbert  (You might recognized these words from a song in Veggietales)

I am the very model of a modern Major-Gineral,
I've information vegetable,animal, and mineral;
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical,
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted,too,with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both simple and quadratical;
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
Wiht many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
I'm very good  at integral and differential calculus,
 I know the scentific names of being animalculous.
In short,in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-Gineral.

That's all!
